Fees
Given the complexity of legal translations, it makes only little sense to quote a standard price per line (May I draw the attention of the foreign visitors of this site to the fact that, unlike in the United Kingdom and the US, translation fees in Germany are usually calculated by line and not by word, a line consisting of 50 characters (including spaces)). I will not normally give a cost estimate unless I have thoroughly gone through the text to be translated, with my price per line ranging from EUR 1.60 to EUR 3.50 (plus statutory VAT). The price per line applicable to a translation job from time to time will be determined by me on the basis of the degree of difficulty and intended use of the translation. If a translation job is to be calculated on the basis of time spent rather than the number of lines, I will charge a fee of EUR 140/hour (plus statutory VAT). My minimum fee is EUR 100 regardless of the manner of its calculation.
In addition, a surcharge will be payable for rush jobs and work on weekends and bank holidays, depending on the individual circumstances.
A lump-sum surcharge of 10 per cent. will be payable for certified translations.
Except courier charges, I do not charge any additional costs such as postal charges, telecommunication charges, paper etc.
Unless otherwise agreed, my clients will in any event be sent a written cost estimate for each individual order.
